Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis
The Department of Educational Leadership and Analysis (ELPA) at MU offers a Ph.D. in three emphasis areas: Educational Administration, Higher Education, and Educational Policy. The mission of our department is to create knowledge while preparing leaders to critically shape and transform educational issues, policies and practices. The faculty in ELPA are united in their commitment to issues of social justice and are experts in a variety of research areas within higher education (e.g., college access and success; race, gender, and feminism; immigration and international/comparative; students and identity development, higher education policy) and PK12 contexts (Black male leadership, desegregation, immigration, politics of language education, school transformation, organization of schools for success). Student engagement with research is strongly encouraged through collaborations with faculty, funding opportunities to present research at conferences, and grants to support student-led research.
