Scott Eacott, senior lecturer and Director of the Office of Educational Leadership in the School of Education at the University of New South Wales and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Saskatchewan has recently published a book entitled Educational leadership relationally: A theory and methodology for educational leadership, management and administration (2015, Sense). The book was awarded the Australian Council for Educational Leaders' (ACEL) Hedley Beare Award for most outstanding educational writing contributing to the canon of educational leadership in Australia.
Through attention to epistemology and methodology Educational Leadership Relationally provides the most ambitious research program coming out of Australia since the work of Evers and Lakomski. In articulating and defending a relational approach to scholarship, the book challenges the notion of 'leadership' and shifts the unit of analysis from individuals or entities to relations. The book will be a focus of a forthcoming special issue of Journal of Educational Administration and Foundations and a follow-up book is already under contract with Springer.
